Thiruvananthapuram: In today’s digital era, where fraudsters can wipe out savings with just a single click, renowned magician Gopinath Muthukad is using his magical expertise to educate students on financial safety. Through his awareness-driven program, Tricks, and Truth, Muthukad captivated young minds while demonstrating essential financial literacy concepts, such as secure transactions, fraud detection, and self-protection against cyber threats.

RBI’s Initiative for Financial Literacy

The event was part of the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) financial literacy awareness initiative, aimed at empowering the youth with financial knowledge. The program took place on Tuesday at Mount Carmel Convention Centre, Vazhuthacaud, and was attended by students from Cotton Hill and Carmel Girls High School.

Organized under the Financial Inclusion and Development Department (FIDD) of RBI, the event was inaugurated by RBI Regional Director Thomas Mathew. He highlighted that despite Kerala’s high literacy rate, there remains a critical need to enhance financial literacy among students. He reaffirmed RBI’s commitment to educating the public on saving and investing wisely.

Honoring Gopinath Muthukad’s Contribution

During the event, Gopinath Muthukad was honored with a memento for his contribution to financial literacy awareness. Several dignitaries graced the occasion, including RBI Ombudsman R. Kamalakannan, SLBC Convener Pradeep K.S., Former FOKANA Chairman Paul Karukappally, and representatives of various banks and RBI officials.

The event concluded with K.B. Sreekumar, Deputy General Manager of FIDD, delivering the welcome speech and AGM Sabith Salim proposing the vote of thanks.
